Why Visit The Pop Up Farm?
Something For Everyone
Launched in 2017, The Pop Up Farm is famous for being Hertfordshire’s original pumpkin patch, attracting thousands of visitors every year, from across London and the Home Counties. Today we offer a number of wholesome farming festivals throughout the year and have expanded our offering into a variety of exciting areas. So whether you’re planning a fun family day out, an evening with friends, looking for recipes, a school representative looking for a new and engaging educational opportunity, or keen to purchase pumpkins in bulk for your business, The Pop Up Farm has something for everyone to enjoy.
Not Any Old Pumpkin Patch
The Pop Up Farm Difference
We're farmers through and through.
Farmer Ian and his family are 6th generation Hertfordshire farmers and proud, working 1,000+ acres of land.
We grow our own pumpkins.
Since 2017, on the Pop Up Farm patch, or at our family farm in Harpenden.
Not Halloween-focused. That's not us.
We're an authentic pumpkin festival on a farm, promoting fresh air fun without the spooks!
Our team know farming.
Involved in all aspects of agriculture, we celebrate and promote a genuine love of the land.
Mixing North American & British traditions.
Farmer Ian (British) and his wife Gilly (Canadian) have created a truly transatlantic farming experience.
Embracing nature and fresh air fun.
Our patch is full of wholesome games and experiences. No screen time. No plastic. Just fun for all!
Regenerative farming focus.
We farm differently. We promote biodiversity and embrace building habitats that benefit all creatures.
We run a kids education charity.
For over a decade, we've been helping reconnect young people with farming and the food chain.
Fancy joining the team in 2025?
We'd love to hear from you.
If you like working in a team, being outdoors and meeting new people, we’d like to talk with you.
Additional skills that may be helpful include creative/artistic flair, bar/restaurant experience and operating POS systems.

Enjoy an authentic experience delivered by farmers
A fun and wholesome family experience for all ages.
Our aim is for each visitor to enjoy the great outdoors and experience the wonder of picking your own to enjoy and share with loved ones.
Family-friendly Farming
When the UK meets North America
We’re Ian and Gillian Pigott and it’s our pleasure to welcome you to The Pop Up Farm. A spin-off from our traditional family farming business, we’ve created a place to share our enthusiasm for farming, education and biodiversity with as many people as possible.
On our home farm ‘Thrales End‘, located on the outskirts of Harpenden, we grow wheat, oats and beans and also let offices, meeting rooms and storage space.
Ian is a sixth generation Hertfordshire farmer, while film and telly publicist Gilly is a born-and-raised city girl from Toronto, Canada. The Pop Up Farm marries progressive British farming with an authentic North American obsession with pumpkins, sunflowers and corn.
Together we’ve been bringing the best of both to London’s Local Farm since 2017.
Explore Our Farm
Why not create a new family tradition or relive childhood memories by coming along to one of our Pop Up Farm events? Get involved, whether it be picking pumpkins, sunflowers, corn or whatever our next idea may be.
We’re always exploring new ways to offer even more countryside fun, so keep an eye out for upcoming announcements.
